In-person interviews for the European Research Council 2020 Starting Grant call are set to take place in late May/early June. However, some applicants are concerned that it will not be possible to travel to Brussels at this point in time. The ERC Executive Agency have not yet decided how to proceed on this matter; it is understood they will clarify the situation around mid-April.
Currently, all ERCEA employees are working from home, and the current quarantine rules in Belgium will need to be relaxed before the date of the interviews to allow them to take place in person.
The ERC have released a statement to confirm that panel evaluations are being organised remotely, and they do not expect any delays in call deadlines or their evaluation processes due to COVID-19 control measures.
